Eastgate Quarter Update

Hammerson has submitted a revised planning application for its Eastgate Quarters scheme, to include 130 new stores, a new civic square, a 2,500 space car park, and the refurbishment of some important listed buildings. Marks and Spencer and John Lewis have already signed up for the scheme, which could yet be 5 years away. Some parties have expressed concerns about the number of new stores proposed but the developer is confident that the world of retailing will recover.
