MORGANS BACKS BEER FESTIVAL
THE FIRST ever real ale festival in Headingley has received the backing of property firm Morgans, which has just invested over £500,000 in a new office in the area.
Headingley Beer Festival, which will take place from 25th – 27th May at the New Headingley Club (previously the British Legion Club), is expecting to attract over 2,500 people and will feature beer, bands, food and family entertainment.
Managing Director Jonathan Morgan says: “Its Headingley’s first ever real ale festival and online ticket sales have already proved that there is a real appetite for this sort of event. Having operated in North Leeds for 13 years and recently opened our new 1,200 sq ft office opposite Headingley’s Arndale Centre we were keen to show our support for the festival.”
Organiser Chris Hill says: “We are delighted that Morgans has agreed to be our lead sponsor and really appreciate the support Jonathan and the team have shown us.”
The Headingley Beer Festival will feature over 40 beers and ciders from multi-award winning craft brewery Ilkley Brewery as well as soft drinks, food and entertainment from Feral Sun, The Reeds, When I Get My Plane, The Chasing Dark, The Seaguls, Ego Killer and Plastic Rabbits.
Chris adds: “This is the first year that we have run the festival and we have had such a positive response from local people and businesses that are all backing the event. All profits from the festival will be divided between the Club and two local worthwhile charities – Sue Ryder for Wheatfields Hospice and Candlelighters.
Jonathan Morgan says: “We are very excited about the festival which has really caught the imagination of local residents, businesses and students. The mix of live music, real ale and food will make for a fantastic day out and we are already attracting people from right across Yorkshire to the event.”
The festival will be held at New Headingley Club, 56 St Michael’s Road, Headingley,
Leeds, LS6 3BG. For tickets visit www.headingleybeerfestival.co.uk
